Alright, so here’s the deal. It’s been what feels like forever since Activision dropped that little teaser for Black Ops 7. I mean, seriously, the Xbox Showcase gave us this tiny snippet back in June, and then—poof—radio silence.
They did say they’d spill more beans about this shooter over summer. Yeah…summer’s almost over, guys.
Fast forward, and now we’re in the thick of July. One month since the world got its first peek at Black Ops 7. Now Activision finally says we’ll see it again in August. Gamescom Opening Night Live. Circle your calendars for August 19, folks. It’s just gonna be a part of the show lineup, nothing too crazy. Maybe it was intentional. Or maybe I just got distracted. Who knows.
Shows kicks off live at, like, 11am PT if you’re on that side of the pond. East Coasters? Tune in at 2pm ET. And for those across the way in the UK, it’s a nice evening viewing at 7pm. Anyway—wait, no—where was I?
Oh, right. This whole thing is kinda wild. Usually, a Call of Duty release is this massive spectacle, right? An event all on its own. But now it’s piggybacking on gamescom. Does that say something about the game itself? I dunno, maybe. Or maybe not. It’s just odd.
What’s on the agenda for August 19 is anyone’s guess. Could be a short tease or maybe a bigger showcase later in the month—or even September. Just imagine, right? Perfect lead-up to a beta launch or something.
Black Ops 7 has some juicy stuff up its sleeve—a dive back into near-future settings and co-op in the campaign, which has everyone jazzed. Plus, folks are itching to see if they’ll weave some magic continuity between this and Black Ops 6. No doubt they’ll announce that sooner rather than later. Better be something, or my anticipation’s in vain.
No release date yet. Go figure. But November seems a good bet for its drop across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Stay tuned. Or don’t. Your call.
