A well-known leaker has stirred up the Mortal Kombat community by revealing that a new batch of downloadable content (DLC) planned for Mortal Kombat 1 is reportedly off the table. This decision supposedly includes scrapping another Kombat Pack and a new story expansion, with disappointing sales of the previous addition being cited as the main reason.
Under the headline “A planned second story expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 is purportedly canceled,” this information emerged from a post by user _FateUnknown_ on the popular Mortal Kombat Leaks forum on Reddit. The user stated that while Kombat Pack 3 and a second wave of story content were in the pipeline, both have now been shelved, apparently with no plans to introduce new characters anytime soon.
“Kombat Pack 3 and a second story expansion were on the cards,” the leaker detailed. “But they’ve been recently axed, so there won’t be any characters beyond those in Kombat Pack 2. We might see a cameo or two since work was underway on those, but that’s uncertain at this point.”
When pressed for an explanation, the leaker simply attributed the decision to poor sales of “Khaos Reigns,” as they stated, “Khaos Reigns sold poorly.”
As with any information from unofficial sources, it’s always advisable to maintain a level of skepticism. It’s worth mentioning, though, that _FateUnknown_ holds “verified insider” status on the subreddit, implying a certain degree of reliability based on their past revelations.
