Summary
So, I was scrolling through some Overwatch 2 stuff and stumbled on this wild tidbit — they almost threw in some skins that never made it to the Street Fighter 6 collab. Crazy, right? We’re talking Ken Hanzo, Ken Genji, and Dee Jay Lucio. They didn’t make the cut, but Blizzard’s open to trying again. Who knows, maybe next time.
The Overwatch 2 and Street Fighter mash-up is hitting May 20. Eight skins in the mix: Chun-Li Juno, Ryu Hanzo, Dhalsim Zenyatta, M. Bison Sigma, Juri Kiriko, Cammy Widowmaker, Blanka Winston, and of course, Guile Soldier: 76. It’s Blizzard’s biggest collab from an outsider IP, apparently.
Anyway, just before the event, they dropped more deets on what got left out. During some chat with ComicBook, Dion Rogers (the guy calling a lot of these shots) actually wanted Ken. I’m not even a huge Ken fan, but the idea of Ken Genji? Mind blown. Perfect Ryu mirror, if you ask me.
Could There Be Another Collab?
So, in this little chit-chat, ComicBook noted that Dee Jay Lucio had a mini-fan club. They wanted him bad because, like, Jamaican dance music superstar meets Brazilian audio medic? Sounds fresh. Rogers said it’s cool. Maybe later? Fingers crossed for round two.
Honestly, Street Fighter meeting Overwatch feels like it just makes sense. They even roped in Arnold Tsang, who’s a longtime Street Fighter fan. He helped dream up the whole idea. Both games have the world hero and map vibe. Tsang even joked they could slap on a Street Fighter skin for every Overwatch hero. Now that’s ambition!
And get this, the whole deal is one of the speediest Blizzard’s done. Not too long ago, they finished a Gundam Wing collab and bam, now this. But don’t hold your breath for two collabs per season. Rogers wants it, “If we can, we’ll do it,” he said. Let’s see, folks.
