I just found out that Pokémon’s got this new thing coming out next week — the “Wisdom of Sea and Sky” expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. Okay, seriously, I remembered July 30, 2025, without even trying. Nostalgia attack, anyone? We’re talking Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and, bam, the Legendary ones like Lugia and Ho-Oh. It’s like a Johto reunion or something. I mean, heck, I can almost hear my old Game Boy crying out for attention.
Oh, and here’s a twist — some Pokémon here won’t need Energy for attacks. What’s that about? Maybe they’re going green or something. Or, you know, just wanting to shake things up. Either way, it’s a new playground for deck builders. Strategies will be flipping all over, I guess.
Now, speaking of flipping things, they’re upgrading the Trade feature. It’s getting, well, kinda fancy. There’ll be a wishlist deal where you show off what cards you want to barter with. It’s like saying, “Hey, check out the top 20 trading cards I’m drooling over,” right from the My Cards screen.
Oh, and tokens? So yesterday, they’re ditching those. Now it’s all about something called shinedust. Sounds like fairy dust, if you ask me. I could almost see Tinkerbell sprinkling it around. Anyway, you get this magical dust by finishing some tasks or snagging card duplicates. Tokens can still be swapped for shinedust or pack hourglasses at the shop till next Wednesday.
Anyway – sorry, where was I? Oh right. Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket’s hanging out on the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android. It’s all set up and waiting. Sort of feels like tech meets childhood in a bag of surprises.
There’s a trailer somewhere, too. Haven’t peeked yet, though. Maybe I will. Maybe not. The curiosity’s itching a bit.
