The Evolution Championship Series (Evo) is back in Vegas, yeah, from August 1-3. Picture this: people from like, 60 different countries all mixing it up over some serious gaming. The Las Vegas Convention Center is gonna be buzzing like a neon sign, but instead of poker chips, it’s all about controllers. Yeah, the stakes? High. Only the cream of the crop walks away with the prize.
So, get this: they’ve really beefed up the lineup this year. More games, more stuff to do, all that jazz. You got titles like Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6 — the usual suspects, right? And Guilty Gear -Strive- sneaks in there too. It’s a buffet of gaming if you ask me.
Oh, I saw some photos by this guy, Robert Paul. Pretty neat stuff. Why I’m mentioning it? No clue, it just caught my eye.
Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, so many panels, demos, booths. Cosplay contests? Check. Artist Alley with who knows how many vendors, and an Evo Museum featuring cool old-school game art? I mean, what’s not to love? It’s like Comic-Con had a love child with a gaming expo.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls — say what? Yep, folks can try it at Evo. The controllers they’ll use sound like something out of a sci-fi flick: DualSense, Razer Kitsune, and NACON Daija. PlayStation, Marvel, and Arc System Works are cooking this one up. Seriously, a 4v4 tag team fighter? Wild stuff.
Oh, then there’s this panel on August 1 at 8pm PT. Some bigwigs from Arc System Works and Marvel Games chat about the hows and whys. If you’re not at the show, you can always tune in on Twitch. I mean, that’s if you remember.
Flicking through my notes, what else? Ah, yes! FlexStrike wireless fight stick. It’s just a quirky name, but it’s Sony’s new toy. Might be the first wireless of its kind using PlayStation Link. They say it’s got low latency — whatever that means in gamer talk. It’s a showpiece, not the final version, so don’t get too attached.
Quick side note: PlayStation’s having a big Summer Sale! Everything from TEKKEN 8 to Granblue Fantasy Versus is getting some serious price chops. Even the accessories are slashed in price if you’re lucky enough to snag the code at Evo itself.
Oh, and watching from home? Twitch.tv/Evo and PlayStation Esports’ YouTube channel have you covered. Seriously, grab a snack, pop your feet up, and watch the chaos unfold. Whether you’re there trying to score a deal or just a remote observer, Evo is set to be a memorable romp. Enjoy the madness!
