Oh, man, where do I even start? So, apparently, Google might be pulling a fast one on us at their Google I/O shindig next week. They’re all hush-hush, but I think—just maybe—they’re gearing up to launch some snazzy smart glasses. Ever heard of Ray-Ban Meta Glasses? Yeah, Google might be eyeballing them like they’re a rival in a friendly neighborhood cook-off.
Picture this: Sameer Samat, bigwig in the Android Ecosystem clan, casually sporting what looks like these smart specs. Not that he spilled any beans directly, of course. But he did hint that everyone there could feast their eyes on some “cool Android demos.” Vague, right?
Now, in my infinite wisdom (okay, more like just messing around with screenshots), I zoomed in on these glasses. Ha! They struck me as a lovechild of Ray-Ban Wayfarers, with a little camera peeking out from the left temple. Made me feel like I was on some low-budget CSI mission, cropping YouTube images and all.
Noticed something else — a teensy LED light above the camera. Maybe to let people know when it’s sneakily snapping pics or videos? I don’t know. But, it’s giving off a bit of Big Brother vibes, don’t you think? Or maybe that’s just me.
And those arms? Chunky as anything. Hidden treasures, really. Probably packed with batteries and some fancy processors. Could be gearing up to flex its muscles with the new Android XR thingy-ma-jig. I spotted the tiniest slit near Samat’s ear. Could be for audio, or maybe it’s a fancy button, who knows. Sometimes I feel like I’m searching for clues in a puzzle game.
Meanwhile, across town, Apple’s apparently also cooking up its own pair of smart glasses, as per Bloomberg. The tech gossip never stops, does it? They’re supposedly whipping up a processor to match the occasion, or so I hear.
Anyway, I’m kinda curious. Maybe we’ll get more deets at Google’s event, coming up May 20th – 21st, if anyone’s keeping track. Calling all tech nerds: livestreamed keynotes and nerdy sessions galore. Some whispers say Android XR might get a mention. You can bet I’ll be glued to the livestream, a curious cat chasing tech updates. So, if you’re like me and got nothing better to do, tune into Tuesday’s show on YouTube at 10 AM PT. Should be a hoot.
