Blizzard’s been up to something wild — they’ve flipped the script with this hero ban thing in Overwatch 2. If you’ve been duking it out in season 16, you’re probably like, “Why can’t I play Sombra?!” Turns out she’s one of the most banned, alongside Zarya, Symmetra, and a bunch of others. Some fancy data from Blizzard just dropped, showing the same thing. Anyway, these bans might shake things up down the line, like maybe they’ll tweak the heroes a bit, you know, balance stuff out.
Oh, get this — Sombra’s banned a whopping 85% of the time on PC. Like, what’s that about? Zarya’s next at 59% and Doomfist trails behind at, what, 43%? Consoles are a trip too, Sombra’s sitting at 93% bans there. I mean, yikes. So Blizzard has someone called Gavin Winter, who’s a big shot in systems design — he pops in saying they’re using the ban data to tweak the game. Heroes that rarely see the light of day need to be more… um, what’s the word, versatile? Maybe less maps and niche junk, more “everyone gets to play.” Not sure though, it’s all still up in the air. Apparently, just the ban data isn’t gonna dictate hero changes. Which, I guess makes sense — you don’t wanna overcorrect and all that.
What does this mean for Sombra, though? Who even knows. Maybe she’s too OP or just annoying? I mean, could be fun if you actually got to play as her. Why put time into a hero if they’re always benched? Seems like a conundrum. Anyhow, Blizzard’s all smiles — they think the ban system’s golden. Winter’s optimistic, saying it’s hitting most of its goals and he’s jazzed to see what comes next, especially with more hero stats rolling out. Ooh, intriguing!
And don’t forget, season 17 drops soon, sometime in June, and they’re bringing in this wild map-voting feature. More control in the players’ hands. Anyway, I got sidetracked. Excited to see what madness unfolds next.
