I’m on this trip through Elden Ring Nightreign, right? It’s like a scavenger hunt of nostalgia—little winks to past FromSoftware games everywhere. You see stuff from Sekiro, Dark Souls armor, you name it. And I’m all for it. But there’s this big, glaring gap—no guns. Kind of surprising, given everything else they’ve borrowed.
I mean, think about it. They could totally toss in some guns with a DLC. There’s tones of stuff they could do; new enemies, wild locations, characters popping back up like, “Hey, remember me?” But, yeah. Guns. Missing.
Remember Bloodborne? That game that’s ten years old but still has folks talking? It was fast, furious, tangled in this web of Lovecraft madness. I get why people want a sequel that never came. And guns were like a thing there—made combat unique, right?
Okay, Nightreign’s got this Ironeye Nightfarer class—bows, unexpected powerhouses! They’ve broken the mold on bows, which makes me think, why not let guns crash the party too? Maybe they don’t have to be everywhere like bows. Could be a pick-up or specific to a class. No one’s saying to just copy Bloodborne’s style completely, but a fun riff on the theme.
Sure, guns could be tricky, maybe a whole different twist. What about a Nightfarer with a hunting rifle? A sniper who has to keep still—adds tension, right? Or get a gunslinger zooming around up close, creating chaos. Heck, throw in a blunderbuss firing random junk for an unpredictable shotgun experience—imagine kukris whizzing around.
There’s a playground of ideas here. Nightreign just feels on the edge of something wild, if you ask me. Who knows where they’ll take us next?
