Oh boy, so here we go. You know, one of those moments when you’re half intrigued and half “meh.” That was June’s Capcom Spotlight, right? I mean, it’s like, they showed us a peek of Resident Evil Requiem, but not the full-blown gameplay party we were all crossing our fingers for. Still, we got some juicy bits on why Capcom’s taken the sequel down this new rabbit hole.
Okay, side note: what’s up with the whole “Creatives’ Message” vibe? Like, sure, we got some gameplay clips—blink and you might’ve missed ’em—but mostly we’re just chilling with devs, listening to their thoughts. Not gonna lie, I got a bit lost in that developer diary hullabaloo. Maybe it’s just me.
Anyway, or wait—no, actually—where was I? Oh yeah, the Ashcroft family. You know that big “aha” moment? Grace, the main gal, is linked to them. Remember the Resident Evil Outbreak series? That connection swung the narrative back to Raccoon City, away from our ol’ pals the Winters. Makes sense, it’s the 30th anniversary, so, nostalgia trip, anyone?
But hold up—why no Leon? Seriously, with his whole history with Raccoon City, he’d make a comeback, right? Nope. Capcom had this idea that they needed someone who’d jump at their own shadow, and Leon? No chance. Grace fits the bill, apparently. She’s green around the gills, so players can connect with her as a newbie. But she’s no pushover—she’s FBI, she knows her way around a gun. So there’s this balance thing going on. See what they did there?
Oh, tangent alert—but it’s important! Requiem, guess what? You can switch perspectives—first-person, third-person, you name it. Didn’t see that one coming, did you? Apparently, it wasn’t even about the third-person DLC from Village. Just that people are particular, they stick to one view or another. So, here we are.
Mark the date, if you’re keeping track. February 27, 2026. That’s when the game hits PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Can’t wait to see how Grace’s adventure shakes out. Fingers crossed it won’t be just more developer diaries, eh? Who knows.
