Okay, here goes. So, guess what? The Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition headset hit the shelves, and bam, just like that, gone. Like, it vanished quicker than I lose my keys. Seriously, less than a week and poof! If you were thinking of grabbing it directly from Meta, well, tough luck. It’s out of stock already. Kinda wild, right? But hey, there’s hope. You can still find it lurking around at some other stores.
Now, Meta did warn us, “super limited edition” and all that jazz. But did anyone expect it to be sold out this fast? I mean, maybe they had like, barely any stock in the first place. Who knows? Both in the US and the UK, it’s a no-go from Meta. But wander over to Best Buy or, if you’re across the pond, Argos or EE, and you might just score one.
And honestly, even Xbox’s own website just shrugs and sends you to a dead end with that “Out of Stock” page. Like, maybe they underestimated people’s desire to have more gaming junk piling up at home. Even the scalpers are having a field day with this one, flooding eBay at sky-high prices. Go figure.
So what’s the big whoop about this headset anyway? Well, to be blunt, it’s basically the same as the regular Quest 3S. The display, the processor—all identical. The one thing different is it’s all Xbox-ified with a splash of color, and you get this Xbox controller thrown in, plus three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Which, by the way, gives you this buffet of cloud games. Not every Xbox game, though. So don’t get your hopes up too high.
I know, I know, you’re thinking, is it worth it? Well, if you’re looking to save a few bucks, this bundle knocks $75 off if you were to buy everything separately. So, not too shabby.
And oh, remember back in 2016 when Microsoft was like, “Hey, our Xbox One X will have mind-blowing VR!” Yeah, about that… didn’t really happen. This Quest 3S thing is probably as close as they’ve gotten. It’s still not exactly VR in the way you might dream of—more like playing on a flat screen, but inside a headset. It’s something, I guess?
Anyway, maybe one day they’ll step up and give us 3D Xbox games. But for now, we wait.
Wait, quick update—almost forgot! Turns out there was a mistake earlier about how much all this stuff costs separately—$475, not $415. How does one even mix that up? Classic.
So, yeah. Guess that’s all for now.🤔
