I’m staring at this tiny image for VR Games Showcase—seriously tiny, like a thumbnail of a thumbnail. Anyway, they’re back next month, Summer 2025 or whatever. All sorts of XR games supposedly getting some spotlight. I dunno why, but August 12th is stuck in my head now. Maybe it’s because I don’t usually remember dates unless they’re my cousin’s birthday or rent day. But yeah, 8:40 AM PT for the early birds, with some indie flavor to warm things up before the main parade at 9:00 AM PT.
Why do these events always promise “major” stuff? Is it actually major? Or is it just hype? Think they said Quest, PSVR 2, and PC VR will get some love this time—like everyone’s invited to the party.
Organizers are hyped about their best lineup ever, flaunting titles like Forefront from Triangle Factory. Triangle, not square. See what I did there? Oddly amusing. Reach’s getting a deeper dive too. nDreams Elevation’s baby, they say. Meanwhile, Flat2VR Studios—that name always makes me think of pancakes—dropping some news, probably. Oh, and Polyarc has this Glassbreakers: Champions of Moss thing from Seattle. Maybe it’s raining there while they’re filming, who knows, it’s Seattle.
So, that XR Indies & Friends? It’s like a tapas bar of VR—small, quick tastes of the “best and brightest” indie projects, so they say. Air quotes included because I’m naturally skeptical.
Here’s the lowdown, anyway:
– Glassbreakers: Champions of Moss… sounds like a gladiator match, but I guess it’s more strategic and less bloodthirsty.
– Forefront, Triangle Factory’s darling, showing off some multiplayer antics.
– nDreams Elevation’s Reach—has that blockbuster vibe. They’re rolling out a fresh trailer, hoping it sticks.
– Flat2VR Studios with… more stuff. Possibly something about their new dev initiative. No details, just teases.
Catch it all on August 12th at 8:40 AM PT / 11:40 AM ET. YouTube, TikTok, the usual suspects. I’ll be watching, coffee in hand, maybe half-distracted by a buzzing fly or the neighbor’s cat. Or who knows, maybe something truly epic will justify me remembering this date after all.
