Okay, so picture this: Neat Corp, you know, those guys who did the Budget Cuts thing? Well, they’re back with something new called Crossings. It’s like you’re thrown into the whole Norse afterlife, but you’re not just chilling there. Nope! You’re all about melee fights and spell-casting your way through it. Sounds wild, right?
So apparently, you’re on this quest — vengeance or survival, or maybe a bit of both. The world’s constantly changing, because why not add some spice to it, huh? Anyway, you meet these other lost souls. I mean, what are they doing there? Avoiding small talk, clearly, because you communicate with movement. Visualize twice the dodging and striking madness while you fend off trolls and draugr and, you know, more menacing stuff from Norse stories.
There’s all this learning and upgrading weaponry too. Blades and axes straight out of Viking age — imagine scraping the rust off something called the ‘Tooth of Nör’. No idea why they call it that, but it sounds gnarly. You get to battle it out with ghosts and who knows what else, using real magic spells.
Neat Corp went with this vague, mysterious pitch. They paint this picture: wake up somewhere creepy cold — dead yet not fully. Your spirit’s just vibing, walking through this crazy world that reshapes every time you’re in it. Reminds me of those days when your GPS goes haywire. It’s just you and your instincts, cooperating with silent strangers, blocking and magicking your way through. Facing off with creatures that seem to have crawled out of ancient bedtime stories.
Solo or team up — your call. But every choice matters, leaving a footprint like that one time you wore muddy shoes in the newly cleaned kitchen. Oops!
They haven’t dropped a release date, which is annoyingly typical by now, but you can wishlist Crossings on the Horizon Store for Quest or go PC with Steam. Mark your calendar, yeah? From October 14th to 21st, they’re unleashing a demo on Steam Next Fest. Just a “single-player slice,” they say. Enough to tease, I guess. Let’s see how that pans out!
