Okay, so here’s something interesting that happened: Rokky, that PC distribution place, just grabbed ChinaPlay. This is like the ultimate mix-up. Imagine a small shop suddenly deciding to sell like, everything from another shop next door. No clue on the price tag for this, though.
ChinaPlay’s thing, I guess, is to take all this cool non-Chinese stuff and somehow make it work in China—with ads and special prices. They’ve got a million people checking them out every year. Wild, right?
And then there’s this dude, Vadim Andreev, who runs Rokky—and he’s talking about how dealing with China’s gaming scene is like trying to do calculus, in the dark, while juggling. Okay, maybe he didn’t say that exact thing, but close enough. Anyway, the point is, by snagging ChinaPlay, they’re basically giving developers a magic carpet ride straight to millions of Chinese gamers. Like, 322 million. That’s a lot of people, in case you didn’t know. Rokky’s whole thing is making distribution less like a secret club and more like a friendly neighborhood.
Then, Denis Glukhov over at ChinaPlay is like, “Yeah, we’re totally gonna beef up our game here. More action on local forums, sassy loyalty deals, and just more stuff for people to pick.” It’s all about making friends, giving gamers more stuff to pick at, and giving developers a map to figure out this massive market.
And, not to spill too much tea, but the guy writing this, Alex Calvin, once worked with Rokky, so maybe he’s a bit biased. Who knows? Go figure.
