I’m actually terrible with questions like this. Like, do you want the good news or the bad news first? Oh, wait. You can’t answer that. Okay, here goes: Helldivers 2 just tackled a colossal battle on Super Earth and totally squashed over two billion of those, uh, Illuminate fellas. I mean, that’s pretty wild, right? But—yeah, there’s always a but—Eagleopolis couldn’t hold up. It’s been taken down like a pack of cards. If it helps, grab your SEAF buddy and maybe watch someone hilariously surfing on a Leviathan. Might lighten the mood?
It’s kinda fascinating, right? The Helldivers tried everything, even called in every trooper since last spring, to fend off this wave of new Illuminate baddies. Not enough, though. Eagleopolis is one of those mega cities—there are seven, by the way—and it’s now in ruins. But hey, don’t lose hope. Take a peek at some clips. Or something.
It seems like a forever ago when the Helldivers started their defense after the Illuminate came charging with their Heart of Democracy update. Morning came, target reached, 2.5 billion Illuminate down. Should we celebrate? Arrowhead popped in and said, “Yeah, we got a problem. Eagleopolis, once a stalwart emblem of Managed Democracy, is now in shambles. The deserted shopping centers are basically yelling at us: ‘This could happen all over Super Earth if we mess this up.'” Dramatic, right?
One mega city’s gone, six are still standing. Gotta keep fighting, dig deep. The Illuminates’ fleet is at 49% strength, they say. So, Helldivers and their SEAF pals are racing against time. It’s like, stay defensive, hit back harder, and don’t let any more cities fall because once they go, it’s game over.
There’s this new mission objective—or whatever they fancy calling it. Basically, make successful exits from skirmishes with the Illuminate about 20 million times. It’s their way of, what’s the phrase… giving a one-two punch to the fleet’s ghost-health-bar. And yeah, avenge Eagleopolis too. Folks on the subreddit are probably either mourning or busy with SEAF trooper fan art. Maybe both?
I dunno. Crying about Eagleopolis? Adding a little comment might not hurt.
