Whoa, so Assetto Corsa EVO, right? It kicked off the year early with an early-access launch. Let me tell you, the VR mode was… well, not exactly winning any awards, because the optimization was just, ugh, a mess. But hey, KUNOS Simulazioni just rolled out this 0.2 update—hopefully to save the day—with some tweaks to make VR a smoother ride.
Okaaaay, so this new 0.2 thing just dropped and it’s like, stuffed with goodies. We’re talking about seven shiny new cars, and seriously, they’re not just your everyday rides. I mean, they’ve got stuff like the Maserati GT2 and Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6. Oh, and two new tracks too: Circuit of the Americas and Donington Park. Exactly what I needed, more places to crash—kidding, kinda.
And then there’s the whole single-player thing. They’ve got this ‘Open Mode’ where you can just dive in and play with all the cars. Then there’s ‘Career Mode,’ where you actually… I dunno, progress? Like a real grown-up?
As for VR? It’s supposedly the “step two” moment or whatever, which should make the game less of a headache to play on VR sets. They’ve thrown in some nice graphics updates for the VR folks:
– VR TV camera set (sounds fancy, right?)
– Mirror capture mode’s now all “dynamic” in VR
– You can tweak video settings on the go
– Better reflections—shimmering!
– Added DLSS (which I’m pretending to understand)
– Brand-new grass type (sure?)
– Fixed this weird black glitch thing on the horizon
– Disabled the idle-screensaver nonsense in VR
And guess what? You can now switch to VR or triple screen without losing DLSS, which basically means fewer hassles while you’re swapping modes.
Now, if your PC’s a beast, you should be good to go. They’ve been showing off some graphics comparisons—like, here’s version 0.16 and here’s the updated 0.2—courtesy of ‘HYPEVR TV’. Heads-up, six more updates are planned before they hit that 1.0 release sometime in Fall 2025. Here’s hoping they make VR really worth the $32 this thing costs! 🤞
So yeah, that’s where we’re at with Assetto Corsa EVO. It’s a bumpy ride but seems like KUNOS is actually trying to smooth things out.
