Battlefield 6, man, it’s here. Or at least, they’ve shown it to us. EA went all out, spilling the beans at this global gameplay event with, like, a zillion streamers online. Seriously, if you missed it, that’s on you.
So, they confirmed loads of stuff. For those wondering about the PC version, here’s some news not everyone loves. But that’s life, right?
Oh, a quick side note: if you’re worrying about targeting cookies in some embedded content thing, just fiddle with your settings. 🎵 Anyway…
Battlefield Studios dropped the bomb that the PC version will launch with this Javelin Anticheat. Yeah, I know, another anticheat. It’s EA’s own, sneaky as ever, because it runs kernel-level. Like right down in the guts of your system. Sort of like when your cat manages to sneak into the attic when you aren’t looking.
Calling it ‘Javelin’ happened only recently, but this tech’s been sneaking around since 2022. It’s already messed around in games like EA FC, Madden, and those car ones—F1 something. Remember Battlefield 2042’s Season 6? Yeah, it was there too. Makes sense it sticks around for the new game.
They’re even tossing this anticheat into the beta. Good chance to mess with it on different PCs. More tech talk: you gotta have Secure Boot on Windows. Secure Boot is kinda like having a locked front door, nothing groundbreaking but useful. Needs TPM 2.0, which most modern PCs handle just fine. Probably.
Is kernel-level anticheat shocking anymore? Nah. Loads of big games use it—BattlEye, Easy Anti-Cheat are a thing. Even Call of Duty has Ricochet, which always makes me imagine boomerang logic, coming back at you like karma.
Yet, giving third-party software deep access bugs some folks out. Linux fans? Yeah, it’s a headache for them. Limits things, but it’s tougher on cheats. It’s a deal you make with modern gaming now: hand over system access, get less cheating. Perfect? Not quite. Feels like agreeing to extra broccoli for dessert—you don’t love it, but okay, whatever.
Mark the calendar: Battlefield 6 drops October 10 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Now, back to whatever else distracts my day.
