Oh man, so Samsung hasn’t really paraded their new headset yet. I mean, it’s supposed to be a big deal, right? But at that Unpacked event last month? Not a peep! And yeah, Google I/O before that? Also nada. They did, however, say it’s still happening this year, so fingers crossed, right?
So, here’s the scoop, if you can call it that: Samsung on this earnings call – side note, what even is an ‘earnings call’? Sounds pretentious – confirmed that the headset, which they’re kind of awkwardly calling ‘Project Moohan’ for now, is on the way. Who names these things? It feels like a placeholder name nobody bothered to change.
Anyway – or maybe not, hang on – Samsung’s Daniel Araujo from their mobile something-something division mentioned they’re rolling out this headset and a TriFold smartphone this year. That’s intriguing, but frustratingly vague. Like, when? How much? Dude, details!
A little birdie said Project Moohan didn’t have its time to shine at major events. Kind of a bummer they didn’t show it off at Google I/O – apparently, there were press demos, but it wasn’t a big splash. Wouldn’t this be the perfect crowd for it though? Like, developers galore…but maybe there’s a plan. Or not.
Also, at the Samsung Unpacked in July? Yeah, still no proper spotlight. It just didn’t show, kind of like someone ghosting a bad date. The TriFold was MIA too, so maybe they’re saving it up for a surprise later on. Honestly, who knows.
Alright, so what do we actually know? Project Moohan’s running on Android XR with this Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 + Gen 2. Fancy, right? It’s got these micro-OLED panels from Sony – but, of course, no specs. It’s like they’re teasing us.
Apparently, it has these cool pancake lenses which sound delicious? Supposed to have eye-tracking, hand-tracking, interchangeable battery packs and some kind of VR controllers that are also mysterious ghosts right now.
For the curious folks, there was this hands-on thing last December, but seriously, it feels like they’re slowly cranking up the suspense dial here. What’s next? Okay, um, concluding thoughts… or not. That’s a wrap, or something!
