Destiny 2 Unveils March 2025 Update

Bungie has rolled out Update 8.2.5 for Destiny 2, tweaking a range of items including exotic gear and weapon types, while also making some adjustments to game modes like the Crucible. Recently, players have been kept in the loop about these changes, which address some previously overpowered weapons.

March 11 brought a significant reset for Destiny 2, marking the arrival of Act 2 for Episode Heresy. This introduces the next chapter in the game’s saga, alongside fresh gear and activities for players to explore. Adding to the excitement, the 2025 Guardian Games event also kicks off, where the three classes compete to see who can collect the most medallions daily. On top of that, a major update brings changes to the game’s current sandbox.

Anticipation for these changes was built up by previous announcements, but now players can see them firsthand. The standout change revolves around the new pulse rifle, Redrix’s Estoc. This weapon, based on the Legacy PR-55 Frame archetype, draws some connections to Destiny’s BxR-55 Battler rifle. It sees both its body shot and critical hit damage reduced slightly.

The update also addresses several bugs impacting various activities and gear. Fixes include adjustments to Titan’s No Backup Plans, Khepri’s Horn, and Hazardous Propulsion. Additionally, Hunter’s Shards of Galanor, Radiant Dance Machines, and Sealed Ahamkara Grasps are getting patched. However, for Nightstalker users, the new On The Prowl aspect receives a nerf, reducing the effects of Smoke Bomb debuffs in the Crucible.

Simultaneously, players are still debating changes to weapon crafting and the status of Destiny 2’s seasonal weapons. With crafting disabled in Episode Revenant, some players are dissatisfied with their current inability to forge seasonal weapons. While shifts in this area are unlikely for Episode Heresy, all eyes are on Bungie to see how it might evolve in the future, particularly with the Codename: Frontiers development.

• The Nether: Reduced damage taken from Sharpshooter’s Burden and Fragile Strength. Fixed issues with Paracasual Payload and Paracausal Siphon not granting expected benefits.

• Fixed medal display issues in Lockdown mode. Expanded Trials of Osiris and Competitive playlists to support solo vs. fireteam loss forgiveness and more flexible matchmaking. Introduced the new Ascendant 0 rank with potential rewards, and addressed issues impacting Redrix’s Estoc and Competitive rewards.

Dungeons and Raids

• Vesper’s Host: Corrected nuclear core spawning issue in the first encounter.

Gameplay and Investment

Armor

• Hunter: Addressed multiple issues with Sealed Ahamkara Grasps, Radiant Dance Machines, and Shards of Galanor. Fixed Nightmare Fuel damage inconsistencies with certain actions.
• Titan: Resolved bugs affecting No Backup Plans, Khepri’s Horn, and Hazardous Propulsion. Fixed appearances of certain armor in transmog and nomenclature issues with Stasis armor.

Weapons

• Addressed outstanding issues with Vault of Glass (Timelost) weapons, enhanced weapon perks, and visual effects with the Adept Shader for Trials weapons. Specific adjustments made to wave-frame swords and damage values for various pulse rifles.

Abilities

• Clarified functionality of Prismatic’s Facet of Blessing. Adjusted Hunter’s Nightstalker abilities in PvP, removing certain debuffs and visual effects for ‘On the Prowl.’ Fixed issues with Piercing Sidearms perk.

General

• Corrected discrepancies with international Silver purchase artwork and fixed visibility issues with certain items in the Collections menu.
