Yuji Horii can’t keep secrets to save his life, bless him.
So, I was poking around some news, and apparently, Horii—the guy who’s all about Dragon Quest and was part of the Chrono Trigger “Dream Team”—may have let something big slip. Like, we might actually get a Chrono Trigger remake for its 30th anniversary. He just blurted it out at this comic con in Napoli, Italy. I mean, the man practically spilled the beans. When someone at the panel tried to press him for more, he just slapped his hand over his mouth. And his translator hit us with a classic “you heard nothing.” Cue the crowd losing it.
But this isn’t Horii’s first rodeo with leaks. Back in July 2015, he accidentally let the cat out of the bag about localizing Dragon Quest VII and VIII for the 3DS. One of those versions was, like, two years old in Japan already. Then, by the end of the same month, he just casually mentioned that Dragon Quest XI would hit the “NX”—you know, the Switch—when the news was actually supposed to be about PS4 and 3DS.
Anyway, fast forward to March 11, when Square Enix teased something for Chrono Trigger’s 30th birthday. Didn’t get into specifics, though. And here we all are, just waiting… Fingers crossed for something epic. Or at least, that’s the hope.
