Sure thing, here goes:
So, alright, here’s the scoop — Nintendo is dropping the next Switch on June 5. Crazy, right? I mean, it’s got this wild lineup. We’re talking big-hitters like a new Mario Kart World — gotta have it — and some oldies but goodies, like Cyberpunk 2077, that the OG Switch couldn’t handle. Makes you wonder what else they’ll dust off, like they did with that cool Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake. Fingers crossed for some Pokémon Mystery Dungeon action again. Seriously, imagine turning into a darn Pokémon again. Who even thought of that in the first place?
Anyway, it all sorta spun off from Spike Chunsoft’s Mystery Dungeon thing. Like, you’re thrown into these dungeons that seem to rearrange themselves every time you look away. You don’t just fight like the usual games; nope, you’re running errands too. Save the Pokémon, deliver stuff — it’s like a delivery service, but with more mystery and drama. Oh, and uh, sometimes you’d meet Legendary Pokémon. Like, Rayquaza just shows up, not just being the big scary poster boy, but as a character with feels, sort of.
Those first ones, Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, honestly ancient by now, released way back in 2005, which feels like yesterday but also a hundred years ago, on Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS, believe it or not. A real switch from the ol’ catch ‘em all. Here you are the little critter. And get this, it all depends on how you answered this quirky quiz that’d fit right into a funny old MySpace survey or something.
Oh, what happened after that? Well, the series hopped around on DS and 3DS until about 2015, then boom — silence. Though they did pull out a snazzy remake for Switch in 2020: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX. Cool name, yeah? Same ol’ quiz, but if that didn’t vibe with you, they’d let you pick who you wanted to be. It had this artsy style, kinda like stepping into a painting, which some folks dug, some didn’t — but hey, they sold a million copies fast. Nintendo just does what it wants, you know? Like, they’re bringing back Kirby Air Ride after 22 years. Who saw that coming?
Since Mystery Dungeon’s last hurrah, three new mainline Pokémon gens popped up, plus some funky new stuff like the Legends series. So many new Pokémon — I mean, I can’t even keep up. Can you imagine strutting around as Fuecoco or Grookey, living that Pokémon life? Look, Nintendo keeps its cards close to its chest (and sometimes up its sleeve, sneaky little thing). So who knows when we’ll get more Mystery Dungeon goodness. Maybe, like, come July’s Pokémon Presents? Here’s hoping, because I’d seriously love to get lost in one of those dungeons again.
