Hey, so there’s this new James Bond game, right? Called 007 First Light. IO Interactive just dropped the trailer at Sony’s State of Play. Honestly, the whole thing kinda blew my mind. We’ve got a young Bond, like, before he’s all suave and everything—seriously, who thought that up?
So, the setup is, Bond’s just finishing his Navy gig, trying to become a spy. You know, typical career change, no biggie. His bosses basically think he’s a loose cannon. They’re like, “Hey, go fetch 009 before you get into some mess.” I mean, “bullet without a gun”? What does that even mean? Sounds like something my uncle would say after a few beers.
Anyway, the trailer has these crazy scenes of Bond running around a fancy mountain hotel, some flashy nightclub—oh, and there’s a business convention or something in there too. Picture Hitman vibes, but with more of that Bond-style chaos. You could sneak up on someone or just go all guns blazing. And there’s even a bit where he blows up a warehouse. Why? No idea, but it sure looks cool.
The CEO, Hakan Abrak, really got into it, promising this epic, boundary-pushing experience. They’ve been making games for ages, with Hitman and all that, so they’re like, “Yeah, we got this.” It’s supposed to be this cinematic experience—a fresh spin on Bond. I’m actually pretty intrigued to see where they’re going with it.
Set to drop in 2026, you’ll be able to play it on pretty much anything—Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, whatever. Anyway, I guess we’ll have to wait and see if it lives up to the hype. Can’t say I’m not curious, though.
